Icons of irreverence, Roy & HG are back with their refreshing views and their peculiar brand of humour on Australian news, sport, culture and general goings-on. Their new show the “Memphis Trouser Half Hour” is presented as if it is in front of a live audience in the United States.

Australia is portrayed as the centre of all metropolis on the show and in the set.

In reality the show is taped at ABC Sydney’s Gore Hill Studios without the live US audience but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the idea it’s all real.

The set was designed to reflect the show’s concept and set designer Chris Batson said that the aim was to create an American Tonight Show theme, with a sharp little edge.

“Rather than the Letterman style of a photographic skyline, we went with a stylised skyline using bright saturated colours,” said Chris.“ The buildings overlap and concentrate to form a map of Australia, which was a way of depicting Australia as the centre of everything. We took the Tonight Show theme and pushed it a bit further in the true Roy & HG style.”

We invite you to snigger with Roy & HG, but don’t forget to check out the set for yourself on ABC 9:30pm Saturday nights.

Saturated colours and stylized shapes give the show a Tonight Show look, with an edge.
